The Candu Chrome Extension helps you work with inline content and overlays directly from your browser. Use it to:

  • Update or remove placements for inline and overlay content

  • Check installation status to troubleshoot issues

  • Preview content on your pages before publishing

Note: The Chrome Extension works only with inline content and overlays. For product tours and hotspots, use Snapshots in the editor.

Update or Remove Placements

Modify existing placements for content:

  1. Open the extension on a page where content is already placed

  2. Select your workspace from the dropdown

  3. Find your content in the list (Tip: If content doesn't show, you may be in the wrong workspace, look for the switch workspace prompt)

  4. Click the placement card to view current settings (selector, position, URL rules)

  5. Click Update Placement to save changes

Want to see it in action? See a walkthrough.

Check Installation Status

  1. Navigate to a page where Candu is installed

  2. Click the Candu extension icon

  3. Click Page Status

  4. If it shows SDK installed and SDK up to date in green, you're all set!

Note: Be sure to check the workspace matches your product's environment.

Preview Content

Quickly test how inline content or overlays look on your pages before publishing:

  1. Open the extension on the page where you want to preview

  2. Select your workspace from the dropdown

  3. Click "All Content" and search for your content

Content Details
When you select content to preview, you'll see:

  • Segments: How many user segments this content is targeted to

  • Last edit: When the content was last modified

  • Status: Current state (Pending changes, Published, or Draft)

You can also preview A/B test variants to see how different versions will appear to users.

Preview Tips

  • Get a clean preview: Collapse the extension and hide borders to see the final look

  • Exit preview: Press ESC or click the three dots to Remove content

  • Make edits: Click "Open the Editor" to jump back and modify content

  • Purple border: Only shows when using the Chrome Extension (users won't see the border)

The Chrome Extension can't preview hotspots or product tours. See more previewing methods including Share Links.
