Editing Content
You can update content that's already published. If you have multiple segments, you can update content for individual segments too. Here's how to update published content:
Open the content in the Editor
Select the segment tab (if you're updating content for a specific segment)
Make your changes (The Editor auto-saves as you work)
Click Update in the upper right corner
Select which segments should receive the updates
Click Update for [#] Segment(s)
And that's it! Updates go live immediately, but users won't see changes until they refresh the page.
Note: If the update publishes successfully, the segment tab will turn green. If it stays orange, the content has not been republished yet.
Changing Segments (Retargeting Content)
If you want to show content to a different audience, you can retarget it to a new segment.
How to retarget content:
Open the content in the Editor
Click the three dots next to the segment you want to retarget
Click Retarget
Select the new segment
Additional segment actions:
Archive: Archived content remains archived until you restore and reassign it to a segment
Duplicate: Creates a copy of the content for a different segment
Restore an Archived Segment tab
If you've archived content in a tab and want to bring it back:
In the Editor, click Segments in the top bar
Click Archived Documents
Select the three dot menu on the content you want to restore
Click Restore
Assign a new segment
Updating Placements and URL Rules
You can change where content appears on your page or which pages display it without republishing.
Using the Editor
In the Toolbox:
Click the Placements icon in the Toolbox (or press P)
This is especially useful when working with snapshots, hotspots, and product tours.
In Settings:
Go to Settings > Placements
Define new selectors, remove placements, or update URL rules
Using the Chrome Extension
For most content types (except product tours and hotspots), we recommend updating placements with the Chrome Extension because you can see changes visually on your page.
How to update placements:
Navigate to the page in your product where you want content to show
Open the Chrome Extension
Click All Content
Use the dropdown to select your Candu workspace (make sure it matches your environment such as Production, Staging, etc.)
Search for and select your content
Click the Placement card
What you can change in the Placement view:
Selector: Target a different element on the page (a turquoise dotted line highlights positions as you hover)
Content position: Change whether content appears above, below, or replaces existing content
URL rules: Control which pages display the content
Remove placement: Delete the current placement
Note: Placement changes take effect immediately. You do not need to republish content.
