When to create multiple workspaces
Create separate workspaces when you need to:
Keep staging and production environments separate
Build and test content changes in a staging workspace before publishing them to live users in your production workspace.
Support multiple brands or products
If you manage multiple websites or applications with different branding, each needs its own workspace. This allows you to maintain separate styleguides, content libraries, and user segments for each brand or product.
Understanding Candu Workspaces
When you create a new workspace, you’re creating a separate environment inside your Candu account. Each workspace maintains its own:
Content: Content is not synced between workspaces, though you can manually import content from one workspace to another.
Styleguide: Customize colors, fonts, and design elements independently for each workspace.
Segments: User targeting rules are workspace-specific. You'll need to configure segments separately in each workspace, and they cannot be copied between workspaces.
Installation Scripts: Each workspace has a unique
clientTokenin its installation script. This ensures content from one workspace only appears where that specific script is installed.Integrations: Analytics tools, data sources, and other third-party integrations must be configured separately for each workspace.
These elements remain consistent across your entire Candu account:
Team members: Everyone on your team has access to all workspaces. You don't need to add users separately to each workspace.
Billing: You're billed once per account, not per workspace. Creating additional workspaces doesn't increase your subscription cost.
Creating a New Workspace
To create an additional workspace:
Navigate to Settings > Workspaces
Click Create New Workspace
Name your workspace
Note: Choose a name that clearly identifies its purpose (like "Production," "Staging," or your brand name).
Enter the primary domain where Candu content will be embedded. This should be the main domain for this environment or brand (such as your staging URL or secondary brand's website).
Your new workspace is now ready. Before building content, you'll need to install the workspace-specific script on your target domain.
Switching Between Workspaces
You can easily move between workspaces depending on where you need to work.
In the Candu dashboard, click the workspace dropdown and select the workspace you want to access:
⚠️ Verify Workspace Matching
Before creating content in your new workspace, verify the workspace is active on your target pages. Building content in one workspace while viewing a page with a different workspace installed is a common setup issue.
Use the Candu Chrome Extension to check which workspace is installed on any page. The extension displays:
Which workspace is currently active
Installation status (SDK installed and up to date)
Your current SDK version
Deleting a Workspace
If you no longer need a workspace, you can permanently remove it.
Select the workspace you want to delete from Settings > Workspaces.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Delete Workspace.
Confirm your choice in the dialog box.
⚠️ Warning: This action is permanent and there is no way to recover a deleted workspace or its content.
Deleting a workspace immediately removes:
All content (overlays, inline content, product tours, and hotspots)
All user segments and targeting rules
All workspace-specific settings and integrations
The workspace installation script
Users will no longer be able to view any experiences from this workspace.
Before deleting, consider whether you need to:
Export or document any analytics
Move critical content to another workspace using the import feature
Notify team members who may be using this workspace
Remove the installation script from any live pages
Next Steps
After setting up your workspaces:
Install the script: Each workspace requires its own unique installation. See Installing Candu for guidance.
Import existing content: If you want to replicate content from another workspace, use the content import feature to copy specific pieces. See Importing Content from Another Workspace.
Install the Chrome Extension: Add the Candu Chrome Extension to verify workspace installation and troubleshoot content visibility issues as you build.
