By the end of this Getting Started guide, you can create and publish content directly to your application!
Ready to get started?
There are a few critical stages to getting up and running with Candu:
Style your content to match your brand and design guidelines.
Create your first piece of Candu content.
Install Candu in your application.
Personalize your Candu content (Enterprise plans only).
Preview your content via the Candu Chrome Extension.
Launch your content by embedding it within your application & going live!
1. Style - Set up your Candu Styleguide
Before building content, update your Styleguide so that your fonts, colors, and design styles are on-brand and ready to go! This ensures that your Candu content is consistent with your applications experience and blends in seamlessly.
2. Create - Getting started with the Candu editor
The Candu editor makes it easy to create and modify content for users. Start from scratch or find inspiration by starting with a Candu template.
You can create four different types of user experiences (depending on your plan type):
Inline: such as banners, empty states and homepages.
Overlays: such as Modals, Pop-ups and Slideouts
Hotspots: flashing beacons with tooltip messages
Tours: multi-step walkthroughs
ℹ️ Don't worry, the Editor is a safe place to create. Nothing will be published until you're ready!
3. Install Candu
Candu is easy to install within your application - our full guide on this is here.
Installing Candu is simple, but there are a few things that you should map out to ensure the process goes smoothly:
Where do you want the content to appear? Is there an available div already or do you need to get your developers to add a new one in for you.
Do you want to show different content to different groups of users? If so, make sure you send Candu the information necessary for creating those user segments, either one of our third party integrations or by sending relevant user events directly to Candu. More information here!
Please note you will need to complete the installation process before you can make any content live to your users.
4. Personalize your Content
If you want to target specific users with specific content, you can create different segments of users and decide what content they should see. This can lead to the best experience possible for your users as content is more relevant than a one size fits all approach which often leads to higher engagement levels.
You can send us two types of data about users, properties/traits and events.
Example User Properties/Traits:
Email address
Role Type
Plan Type
Name
Example User Events:
Invited User to Account
Logged In
Created First Project
Installed Extension
Some example Segments to consider:
Role: account admins vs. standard users
Account size: strategic vs. self-serve accounts
Experience: new trial user vs. activated user
